Apple refreshes the iPad Air

Apple has unveiled the new iPad Air powered by the M4 chip, bringing a notable performance upgrade to its mid‑range tablet lineup. The update focuses on internal improvements while keeping the familiar design that users already know. 

M4 for better performance

The new iPad Air moves up to the Apple M4 chip, offering a significant boost in CPU and GPU performance compared to the previous model. Performance gains include faster multitasking, smoother gaming, and better handling of demanding apps. 

Key improvements

  • M4 chip with improved CPU and GPU performance
  • Increased unified memory (up to 12 GB) for faster app switching and workflows 
  • Enhanced support for iPadOS 26 and Apple Intelligence features
  • Better connectivity with Wi‑Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6 (via Apple’s N1 chip) 

Sizes and configurations

The updated iPad Air is available in two sizes:

  • 11‑inch model (compact and portable)
  • 13‑inch model (larger screen for multitasking)
    Both sizes support configurations from 128 GB up to 1 TB of storage and come in multiple finishes. 

Design and accessories

Design remains largely unchanged, the tablet still supports accessories like:

  • Apple Pencil Pro / Apple Pencil (USB‑C)
  • Magic Keyboard
    The familiar Liquid Retina display and all‑day battery life continue to be central to the iPad Air experience.
