Apple launches new Studio Display and Studio Display XDR

Two new Apple displays arrive

Apple has introduced a refreshed Studio Display and an all‑new Studio Display XDR — the latest external monitors designed for Mac users and creative professionals. Both models are now on sale in many markets worldwide.

Updated Studio Display

  • 27‑inch 5K Retina display with high resolution
  • Improved camera with Center Stage for better video calls
  • Enhanced six‑speaker system with deeper bass
  • New Thunderbolt 5 ports for faster connectivity
  • Doubled internal storage (128 GB) and more RAM for system tasks
Studio Display aims to be an all‑around desktop monitor for creative and professional workflows.

Studio Display XDR: the pro option

  • 27‑inch 5K mini‑LED panel with 120Hz ProMotion and Adaptive Sync
  • Up to 2,000 nits peak HDR brightness and strong contrast
  • Thunderbolt 5 connectivity and USB‑C ports
  • Same high‑quality webcam, microphones, and speakers found on the updated Studio Display
The XDR model replaces Apple’s former Pro Display XDR as the top professional monitor in the lineup.

What’s new overall

Compared with previous displays:

  • Faster connectivity (Thunderbolt 5)
  • Better audio and camera systems
  • Larger internal storage for firmware and system processing
  • Higher brightness and refresh rate on the XDR model
Both displays support the latest macOS standards and require updated system support for full functionality.

Compatibility

New Studio Displays work best with Apple Silicon Macs running recent macOS updates. Some models may offer partial support on select Intel Macs, but full feature sets are optimized for Apple Silicon.
